Results and sessions

How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?

Usually 6 to 8 sessions per zone for a lasting result, with 4–8 weeks between them. You will see fewer and thinner hairs after the first session. It depends on your hair, skin and hormones, so Yana gives you an honest estimate at the first visit.

How often should I come?

Usually every 4–8 weeks: hair grows in cycles, and the laser works on the hairs that are growing at that moment. Zones where hair grows faster, such as the face, come sooner. Yana sets the interval for each zone and makes it longer as the hair thins.

When will I see results?

Most clients see fewer and thinner hairs after the first session, and the treated hairs fall out within 1–3 weeks. After 3–4 sessions the difference is clear; the full result comes at the end of the course.

What happens after the first session?

The skin can look a little pink for a few hours. Over the next 1–3 weeks the treated hairs loosen and fall out on their own; one client noticed it after 15 days. Don’t pull them out. Hair that was resting during the session grows later, which is why a course has several sessions.

Is laser hair removal permanent? How long does the result last?

It gives a long-lasting reduction, not a promise that no hair ever grows again. After a full course there is far less hair, and what remains is finer and lighter. Hormones can wake up new follicles over the years, so many clients come for a touch-up once or twice a year. How much the hair is reduced depends on your hair and skin.

Why does hair sometimes grow back after laser?

Usually because it was IPL instead of a real laser, the power was too low, the settings were wrong, or the sessions were too far apart or stopped too early. Yana plans your course with the right intervals for each zone and adjusts the settings as the hair gets finer.

Pain, safety and skin

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients feel a short warm tingle. The FIREFLY window is cooled three ways and Yana sets the energy for your skin, so it stays comfortable. The deep bikini and the upper lip are the most sensitive zones: tell Yana and she adjusts the settings during the session.

Is it safe? Are there side effects?

With the right settings it is a safe, well-studied method. After a session the skin can be pink or slightly swollen around the hairs for a few hours; this passes by itself. Burns and dark spots happen when the energy does not match the skin type or a fresh tan, which is why Yana checks your skin and recent sun first and tests a small area where needed.

Does it work on light or grey hair?

The diode laser works on the pigment in the hair. Dark hair responds best; very light blond, grey or red hair responds weakly. Not sure? Send a photo on WhatsApp.

Does it work on tanned or darker skin?

Yes. The 808 nm diode laser suits skin types I–VI, including tanned and darker skin, with settings matched to you. A fresh tan is different: wait 2 weeks after sunbathing or self-tan, so the skin is calm.

Is it suitable for everyone?

Before the first session Yana asks a few health questions. Sometimes it is better to wait: during pregnancy, with inflamed skin, a cold sore or a fresh tan on the zone, or while taking medicines that make the skin sensitive to light, such as some antibiotics or isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Breastfeeding or just had a baby? Tell Yana and she will advise you.

What about moles and tattoos?

The laser goes around tattoos and permanent make-up, because their pigment absorbs the light too. Larger dark moles are covered or skipped. Show Yana anything you are unsure about before the session.

Does laser help with ingrown hairs?

Yes. Ingrown hairs and red dots after shaving are one of the most common reasons clients come. The laser works on the follicle, so there is nothing left to shave or grow in, and the redness fades. See the deep bikini photos in the before-and-after section on the main page.

Before the session

How do I prepare?

Shave the zone 12–24 hours before. Do not wax, sugar, use an epilator or pluck for 4 weeks before, avoid sunbathing and self-tan for 2 weeks, and come without cream or deodorant on the zone.

How long should the hair be?

Shaved, 12–24 hours before the session. The laser needs the root in the skin, not the hair above it: long hair would only heat up on the surface.

I had waxing or sugaring recently. When can I come?

After about 4 weeks, once the hair has grown back with its root. Until then, only shave.

Can I come during my period?

Yes, for all zones except the deep bikini, which is better moved to another day. The skin can be more sensitive just before and during your period, so tell Yana.

What happens at the first visit?

Yana asks a few health questions, looks at your skin and hair and tells you honestly how many sessions to expect. Where needed she tests a small area first. Then the session itself: cooling gel, laser, done.

How long does a session take?

Small zones such as the upper lip or underarms take about 10 minutes, the deep bikini about 20 and full legs about 40. The large 22 × 35 mm spot keeps it quick. Plan 15 minutes extra for the first visit, when Yana checks your skin and hair.

After the session

What should I avoid after a session?

For 1–2 days skip the sauna, hot baths, the gym and scrubs. Use SPF 50 on open zones and avoid tanning between sessions.

Can I shave between sessions?

Yes. Shaving is the only hair removal to use during the course, from 1–2 days after a session. Waxing, sugaring, epilators and tweezers pull out the root that the laser needs, so the next session works less well.

Can I use deodorant after underarm laser?

Skip deodorant on the treated skin for the rest of the day, and use a mild one after that.

Can I do laser hair removal in summer, or use a sunbed?

Zones under clothing, such as the bikini and underarms, can be treated all year. For open zones like the legs and face, avoid sun, sunbeds and self-tan for 2 weeks before and after a session, and use SPF 50. Just back from a sunny holiday? Tell Yana and she checks your skin first.

Zones, for women and men

Deep bikini: what is included, and is it awkward?

The deep bikini covers the whole intimate area, including the labia and the line between the buttocks. It is one of Yana’s most booked zones, so there is nothing unusual about it for her. The cabinet is private, and the rest of you stays under the blanket.

Bikini line or deep bikini: what is the difference?

The bikini line is the edge that shows outside your underwear or swimsuit. The deep bikini is the whole intimate area. Per session: bikini line 75 €, deep bikini 90 €.

Can you treat the face?

Yes: the upper lip, chin, cheeks, neck or the full face, with gentle face settings, from 30 € per session. Face hair depends more on hormones, so it can need more sessions and occasional touch-ups.

Do you also treat men?

Yes, at the same prices as for women. Men book the same way. Popular zones are the back, chest, shoulders and neck, and the cheeks and neck for a clean beard line.

Prices and booking

How much does laser hair removal cost?

From 30 € per session for a small zone such as the upper lip, up to 120 € for full legs. Sets of several zones start at 120 €. All prices are on the main page.

How much does a full course cost?

Multiply the price per session by the number of sessions, usually 6–8. For example, the deep bikini + underarms set costs 120 € per visit, so a full course is about 720–960 €. Single zones start at 30 € per session.

Is it covered by health insurance?

Normally not: Dutch health insurers don’t pay for cosmetic hair removal at a salon. If a doctor has prescribed laser treatment, check your own policy.

How do I book?

Choose your zones in the price list and send the booking form, or write on WhatsApp. Yana confirms the time on WhatsApp.

Which languages does Yana speak?

Ukrainian, Russian and English.

Where and when are you open?

Every day, 9:00–17:00, at Overvliet 22, 3545 NH Utrecht, in Rijnvliet (De Meern, Leidsche Rijn). Free parking nearby.

The laser

Which laser do you use?

The FENIX FIREFLY 2400 W: a diode laser with an 808 nm wavelength, triple cooling and a large 22 × 35 mm spot. Its diodes are made in Germany, and the machine meets CE, FDA and ISO 9001 standards.

Diode laser, alexandrite or IPL: what is the difference?

IPL is not a laser: it sends broad-spectrum light that targets the root less precisely, so results are weaker and less predictable. An alexandrite laser (755 nm) works well on light skin but is less suitable for tanned or darker skin. A diode laser (808 nm) reaches the follicle deep in the skin and suits skin types I–VI.

Is a salon laser better than a home device?

Home devices are mostly IPL with far less power, so they need many more sessions and work best on light skin with dark hair. A professional diode laser is stronger and faster, and a specialist sets it for your skin and hair.
